Social forestry-based conservation through eco-tourism in the village forest of Talaga Paca, North Halmahera Regency

Abstract Talaga Paca used to be a community resettlement village of an isolated indigenous o hongana ma nyawa or Tugutil in North Halmahera Regency, Maluku Province. In 2019, the Ministry Environment and Forestry gave approval for management forest area 865 ha 35 years scheme Village as part social forestry program. Through wide strong collaboration between parties, is committed develop ecotourism improve welfare conservation nature. The exploration biodiversity potential was carried out. There are 36 species birds identified, some which endemic protected birds. Lake tour, jungle tracking, bird watching, caving attractions ecotourism. A total 30 people responded very positive programs relation with empowerment using Likert scale. Currently, have begun receive economic benefits presence tourists, they willingness conserve nature voluntarily.
